CLE 是 Chinese GNU/Linux Extensions 的縮寫，稱之為 "中文延伸安裝套件"；所謂 的 CLE 其實是一堆中文相關軟體的集合，以目前的狀況而言， CLE 是一些中文相關程式的 rpm 檔，是建構在 RedHat Linux 之上的一個中文延伸套件。

這也是國內很多人使用的distribution。

Debian 是一套為你的電腦而設的自由的或稱之為開放原始碼的作業系統 (OS)。作業系統是使電腦運行的基本程序和工具的集合，其核心稱為核心(kernel)。核心是電腦中最基要的程序，負責一切基本「管家」的調度工作，並讓你運行其他程序。Debian 並不依賴特定的核心。目前 Debian 採用 Linux 核心，但把 Debian 移植至其他核心的工作正在進行中，將可配合 Hurd 核心使用。

XLinux is a globalized Linux system which is based on the architecture of GCS ( Giga Characters Set ) scheme encoding technology so it can properly handle multiple language scripts on the same screen and run in multiple countries and languages. GCS, a four bytes encoding technology, can map for English, European or Asia/Pacific characters and numbers, also absolutely compatible with some other character encoding theoretics.

CLDP -- Linux 中文文件計劃

Linux 中文文件計劃(Chinese Linux Documentation Project, CLDP), 目的是要為 Linux 提供豐富，完整，高品質的中文文件。目前正致力於 Linux HOWTOs 的翻譯工作，以及標準翻譯辭彙的建立。
