Ice Breaking: Self-Introduction (11/18)
Good evening, everyone.
I' m Chris. Well, first of all, I would like to say that I' m glad to have the chance to talk to you for something about me. Actually I' m a new comer, a new guy who had just onboarded last month, starting my first job as being an engineer in Core Technology group. In this summer, I received my master degree in computer science from National Taiwan University. After that I took the military service for three months' basic military training in Kuan-shi and then back to Cyberlink to start my career life. And I' m happy that I' m back on the right time so that I do not miss too many toastmaster meetings.
Frankly speaking, I' m not good at introducing myself but I think I can start from talking about my wishes in my childhood and perhaps you can know more about me. I believe that each of you had ever thought about what you want to do and want to be when you' re still a little boy or girl. Someone may want to be a singer; some may more like to be an artist, a dancer, and even more, the president. I' m no exception. I still remember that when I studied in elementary school, one day I saw a soap opera from TV and there was a character in that program, which is a computer programmer. At that time, I knew nothing about what a programmer is and knew nothing about computers, either. This guy on TV worked very hard and seemed very smart, but not good at social relationship. He was married but divorced. He had a little boy lived with him and he made money by writing programs for some companies to raise his son. His job is the so-called SOHO today. He looked very enjoy his job and his job also made lots of money for him, although he was also bad at wealth management.
"Wow! So cool! What an interesting job!" I don' t know why but I did think in this way in my childhood. And after that I made my mind to be a programmer. In order to achieve my wish, I joined the computer club in my junior high school, writing my first program in BASIC. And then majored in computer science when I entered the university. Now I' m a programmer in Cyberlink and I enjoy my job. An interest that can also make money for me; I think I' m a lucky guy.
Second I' m talking about my hobbies. When I have free time, I like to go outdoors and take some photos. I may not very good at photography but I do like the feelings when I shooting photos. By the way, I also participate in this year' s Cyberlink photography contest. As for the indoor activities, I enjoy readings and writings, writing some essays in Chinese. I used to write something occasionally on my web log, which we called blog. I' ve not written any novels yet but I dreamed of writing a novel of my own in the future days. I' m not good at sports, but I do some exercise in order to stay in fit. I like jogging and usually jog about twice a week. I also play badminton in Cyberlink' s badminton club every week.
Well, I' m going to end my first ice breaking from here. I' m trying to make it better as possible as I can but actually I do not have enough time to prepare it well. I was busy moving to another new apartment this week and have to participate a conference held in Chi-Tung University and I' ve just back to Taipei from Hsiu-Chu at 5:00 PM. For me this week is a terrible busy week and I glad that finally the weekend comes while I still survive.
