[轉貼] Some Advice for a Programmer-to-be
While You're in School
- Improve your English
- Build a strong and broad knowledge base on Computer Science
- Focus first on Computer Science, not computer techniques -- learn technologies for the purpuse of helping you understand how CS knowledge is applied in problem solving, or how it is put to practical use
- Spend your precious time studying, rather working (excessively) part-time
- Learn teamwork -- explore abilities; cover deficiencies; prefect through debates; practice through project
To Prepare for a Bright Future
- Understanding yourself; your abilities and limitions -- the latter is much harder to know
- Be honest with yourself
- Cover all aspects of a problem, and be thorough
- Train yourself for clear and logical thinking; learning to arrange and state your throughts logically
- Pay attention to details with your design
- Appreciate the importance of program testing
- Remember you are an engineer -- learn to optimize under time, resource, and other constraints, to reach a feasible solution
- Take initative and be aggressive, but don't ever stab others on the back
