Wan-Chun (Alex) Ma is now a Computer Graphics Researcher at Weta Digital, a visual effects company based in Wellington, New Zealand. He received his PhD degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2008. His PhD mentors are Dr. Ming Ouhyoung and Dr. Paul Debevec. He was a postdoctoral research associate in the Graphics Lab at USC Institute for Creative Technologies from 2009 to 2011.

He has been honorably discharged from Ministry of National Defense Symphony Orchestra, Republic of China (Taiwan) as a Private E-2 (PV2) after a ten-month mandatory military service, starting from September 2008 to July 2009. (Pictures/Video)

His research interests include facial animation, reflectance modeling, computational photography, real-time rendering, and general purpose GPU techniques.
